From 1946 until 1960, Mathiatis has met an upward population course. Despite a slight decrease of the population in 1982, today the community is experiencing a significant increase in the number of residents. More specifically, in relation to the last census of 2001,when the village numbered 581 residents, today 856 people live in the village.
